Byan Saleh 7/15/2010 Anthropology Assignment 1 Cultural Anthropology Culture is the learned and shared knowledge that people use to generate behavior and interpret experience. Culture is unique to people in different parts of the world because it allows the locals to generate behavior and interpret what they experience. There are two different types of cultures - explicit (whatever is spoken and written) and tacit (cultural knowledge that people lack words for). Ethnography is the process of discovering and describing a particular culture. Since cultures vary in different parts of the world, ethnographers attempt to learn how the members of a particular group view their worlds. Ethnographic fieldwork comes with many types of techniques for a better understanding of a culture, such as observation, conversation, interviews, genealogical methods, and key informants. Everyone is part of a culture and to me culture is a way of life. I am a Palestinian American college student and when my parents immigrated to this country they tried to
