ENGR3190U: Manufacturing and Production Processes Lecture 08 G-codes – Drilling - Notes Example – center drill A #3 center drill (HSS) is used to pre-drill some holes in aluminum part. Calculate the feed F and spindle speed S for this center drill. How deep should you drill? Solution S = RPM = 4*CS/Diamter = 4*200/.250 = 3200 F = RPM x FEED PER REV recalculate RPM = 4*CS/Diameter = 4*200/.2 = 4000
