Assignment 1 The purpose of this assignment is to provide you with an opportunity to get early feedback on your writing skills, and to allow you to explore a topic that is relevant in today’s business environment. It will also expose you early to a valuable resource: the Brock University library databases. To begin this assignment, you will need to logon to the Brock University website, and then follow this sequence: 1. Hit “libraries.” 2. Hit “research.” 3. Hit “databases.” 4. Choose subject “business.” 5. Choose “Business Source Complete” (item 2); “Canadian Newsstand” (item 3); and “CBCA Complete (item 4) 6. Search for information on Jimmy Pattison After finding the information you want, write a 300-word (maximum) essay: Who is Jimmy Pattison. Specific requirement for this assignment: One of the common mistakes writers make is to use a comma splice (also called a comma fault). Demonstrate that you know what is a comma splice by including one comma splice in your essay (see pp. 450-452, 505 of Penguin).
