THE STORY SO FAR …… 1. We wanted to compute current in a material, J = q n v . 2. Computing n and v require knowledge of chemical composition of the material and the periodicity of the atoms. 3. If the atoms are arranged in a periodic array, then the calculation of n and v become easier. Therefore, we were studying the symmetry of the unit cell, hoping that we will be able to identify them in various materials.
