Experiment no.2Hypothesis:The gas ethylene which is emitted causes ripening. Storing fruits and vegetables together causes them to ripen/ age at a faster rate.Aim: to determine if storing fruits and vegetables together causes them to age or ripen at a faster rate than if stored together.Method:1.Using bananas and potatoes separate them into pairs.2.Place 2 pairs of potatoes and bananas in separate closed containers.3.In another container place 2 pairs of potatoes in separate closed containers.4.Repeat step 3 this time using 2 pairs of bananas.5.Leave fruits and vegetables in these containers for one week.6.After one week observe the changes in appearance of the fruits/ vegetables in the containers and record the observations.7.Repeat steps 1-3 twice more.Materials: 6 bananas and 6 potatoesApparatus:Transparent closed containerVariables:Controlled:The conditions in which the fruits / vegetables are placed.(the closed container.)Manipulated: The fruit or vegetable usedResponding:
