Max Havelaar Foundation: This organization
aims to provide market access at fair terms for
farmers and producers in the developing world.
Max Havelaar is a fictional character from a
novel which protested against the unfair colonial
practices of the Dutch in Java, where peasants
were forced to abandon rice production to focus
on tea and coffee.
Rugmark Foundation: This is an organization
which fights against child labour in the carpetmaking industry. Founded in 1994, it provided
certification that carpets produced in India were
not made by children. By 2002 over 3 million
