Varian Microeconomics by Jeffrey M. Perloff Course description: This course provides you with a theoretical foundation of modern microeconomics. The outline of the course consists of four parts. The first part is math preliminaries and introduction of markets and prices. In the second part we study consumer and producer behavior, which constitutes demand and supply sides of the economy, and their interaction in a competitive market. The third part covers market structure, focusing on pricing behavior with market power of a monopoly, oligopolies and monopolistic firms. The fourth part is an extension covering topics of economic efficiency, externalities and public goods. Homework : There will be 8 to 10 homework assignments in total. Problem sets will be posted on Blackboard. Homework answers must be submitted to me at the lecture of the due date.
