Title:Suggestions helping improve American education. According to Darling-Hammond,the NCLB’s emphasis needs to shift from applying sanctions for failing to raise test scores to holding states and localities accountable for marking the systemic changes that improve student achievement. First,the federal government hould assist states in developing systems for evaluating student progress that bases performance including assessments like essays,research paper,and science experiments that are embedded in the curriculum and scored by common criteria which leverages intellectually ambitious learning and provides information that continuously improves teaching. Second,schools should be measured in a more comprehensive manner which includes students progress and continuation,graduation and classroom performance not only based on multiple-choice tests,and gains should be evaluated by how individual students improve over time.Also,the AYP system should be replaced with a continuous improvement model.While
