BIO 100 Lab Final Major Concepts You Should Know This worksheet contains many of the concepts and vocabulary words that you should know for the lab final. Included are some specific details for those concepts where students seem to have the most difficulty. However, all details that you will be tested on are not included on this sheet. Rather, this is intended to be a tool to help you while you are preparing for your lab final. Please note that the lab Manual Appendix also contains helpful information on the lab concepts. Correct Use of the Scientific Method You should be able to create and/or identify each of the following: Puzzling Observation Causal Question – NOT a yes/no question; inquires about the cause of the puzzling observation Hypothesis – A possible answer to your causal question stated in general terms and unrelated to the experiment you will use to test your hypothesis Experiment – a controlled, manipulative experiment which tests one independent variable and could potentially contradict your hypothesis Expected Result - What your results would be IF your hypothesis is correct Actual Result Conclusion ***Wording is very important to these concepts.
