Sean Daehn Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity. We know that the Holy Spirit is God because the Scriptures clearly call him God, teaching that the Holy Spirit had divine names, has divine attributes, does divine works, and receives divine honor and glory. The Holy Spirit has a special work to sanctify and bring Christians into faith in Christ. By nature we are enemies of God and we cannot believe in Christ on our own so we need the Holy Spirit to sustain faith in us. To bring us to faith, the Holy Spirit has called us by the Gospel. The Holy Spirit also enlightened us with gifts, the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. The Scriptures teach that the Holy Spirit gives gifts to His church. Through Word and sacrament gives faith in

The Holy Spirit calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian Church on earth and keeps it with Jesus in the one true faith. The Holy Spirit wants to convert all people and bring them to salvation through the Gospel, but many resist the Holt Spirit so they are not saved. The Holy Spirit also helps us to pray.
