born on September 25, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois. He wrote countless numbers of children’s poems throughout his 68 years of life. He is no longer alive. He died on May 10, 1999 in Key West Florida. He had two children, first was his daughter Shoshanna who was born on June 30, 1970. She later died of a brain aneurism. He also had a son who was named Mathew. He was born on November 10, 1983. He had a wife Susan Hastings who died 5 years after their daughter was born, on June 29, 1975. Silverstein attended the University of Illinois but got kicked out after one year. Next he attended Chicago Academy of Fine arts for a year, but left and went to Roosevelt University for three years until he was drafted into the army. He also went through grade school. Five interesting facts are: He was friends with Hugh Hefner, worked for Playboy as a cartoonist, He wrote many of the songs played by Dr. Hook, Served as a GI in Japan and
