The 1980s The 1980s were a decade of glamour and riches. The 80s were the years between 1980 and 1989. It was an era of new technologies and had a modern theme. There were new inventions, fashions, and styles that no one had seen before. The eighties were a decade to make lots of money. There were billionaire investors. There were three different presidents in the eighties. Some new technological inventions were things like VCR’s, personal gaming computers, and video games. There were also smaller things too like, portable radios, and cassette tape players. In 1980, there were only1.1 million cable television users. By 1990, that number had increased to more than 63 million users. The number of households that owned a computer increased 60 times over the course of the decade. Things like walkmans became plain looking and were designed to look like functional little black boxes and had little detail. Fashions became simple. People started to wear sportswear as regular clothing, things
