Net ID: cgm99, Primary Source 6Violence and mistrust come from economic scarcity. This can be seen in several historical examples from reflecting on times of economic scarcity and the subsequent violence and mistrust that ensued. The first example of economic scarcity was Europeans leaving their home countries to come to the New World. Westward expansion resulted in violence and mistrust between native Europeans and the native Indians. In this case, Europeans fled Europe due to economic scarcity. They came to new territories in the Americas and began exploiting the local people and resources to garner more economic opportunity. This resulted in mistrust among the native people towards the Europeans. This mistrust ultimately led to violence and war between the Europeans and the native peoples of the Americas. This is a prime example of how economic inopportunity ultimately leads to mistrust and violence.
