Unformatted text preview: Assignment 1 Aim In this work, you are supposed to write a script to take Fourier Transform of a function in order to get familiar with Fourier Theory and its numerical implementation. At the end of the project, you should be able to determine spectrum of a signal. Preliminary work Please, study the related sections in Chapter 2 of Haykin's book [Communication systems, 5 th ed.]. This would be a repetition of the concepts you have studied in EE 301 Communication Systems course. As an introduction to what you do in this work,the spectral content G k of a signal, with a given set of N equi-spaced samples of g n , is given by G k = 1 N ∑ n= N − 1 g n exp [ − j 2πkn / N ] This is called Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT).
