Gregory Tsigounis Final Paper – Abstract Despite recent environmental history between the EPA and large corporate environmental violations such as the countless amounts from Wal-Mart, a new trend in business is coming around the corner. Corporations, like Wal-Mart, are revamping their business models by pledging to become role-models and great contributors toward fixing the problem. However Companies such as Du Pont, Johnson and Johnson, Pepsi, and AIG among others have started to team up with other environmental organizations to set the pace and turn a trend into promoting sustainability while working with government to influence environmental policy building. Wal-Mart has partnered up with the Environmental Defense Fund, the United States Climate Action Partnership, and many Non-Governmental Organizations to aid Wal-Mart to set goals toward environmental sustainability. Its variation toward success lies within the ESR numbers and is considered successful if they reach a point toward their goals that wouldn’t be possible otherwise.
