CARDIOVASCULAR DISORDERS2Mrs. J was admitted upon the sudden onset of symptoms such as fever, productive cough,nausea and malaise. She was also having difficulties in performing ADLS and was alsounable to walk without assistance. Based on the medical history of the patient, she hashypertension, chronic heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Mrs.J also complains of difficulty in breathing despite denying pain, anxiety, tiredness and alsohas an irregular heartbeat which indicate atrial fibrillation and also coughs frothy bloodtinged sputum and has an oxygen concentration of Spo2 of 82%. After consideration of allsigns and symptoms medication was started immediately. The first intervention wasapplication of nasal cannula and proper positioning of Mrs. J’s head in order to ensure she iscomfortable and also to enhance efficiency in treatment. Initiating 1V furosemide to thepatient would then follow and treatment process would begin as per the drugs that have beenprovided as stated below:1.IV furosemide (Lasix): Lasix diuretic helps the body in getting rid of extra water orfluids in the body by increasing the amount of urine produced. This is administered topatients following the symptoms given of breathing problems, jugular vein beingvisible, lung crackles, a peripheral pulse and the feeling of anxiety and being weak.Mrs. J’s kidney should be monitored regularly.2.Enalapril (vasotec): Used in the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system by inhibitingangiotensin conversion and thus permitting enzyme conversion. It remediescongestive heart failure and hypertension by using it in conjunction with the diureticin which Lasix was used in this situation.
