She was also having difficulties in performing ADLS and was also unable to walk without assistance. Based on the medical history of the patient, she has hypertension, chronic heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Mrs. J also complains of difficulty in breathing despite denying pain, anxiety, tiredness and also has an irregular heartbeat which indicate atrial fibrillation and also coughs frothy blood tinged sputum and has an oxygen concentration of Spo2 of 82%. After consideration of all signs and symptoms medication was started immediately. The first intervention was application of nasal cannula and proper positioning of Mrs. J’s head in order to ensure she is comfortable and also to enhance efficiency in treatment. Initiating 1V furosemide to the patient would then follow and treatment process would begin as per the drugs that have been provided as stated below: 1. IV furosemide (Lasix): Lasix diuretic helps the body in getting rid of extra water or fluids in the body by increasing the amount of urine produced. This is administered to patients following the symptoms given of breathing problems, jugular vein being visible, lung crackles, a peripheral pulse and the feeling of anxiety and being weak. Mrs. J’s kidney should be monitored regularly. 2. Enalapril ( vasotec): Used in the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system by inhibiting angiotensin conversion and thus permitting enzyme conversion. It remedies congestive heart failure and hypertension by using it in conjunction with the diuretic in which Lasix was used in this situation.
