SUMMARY After over 45 days of continuous leaking,  the oil spill from the Gulf of Mexico has  begun to show signs of letting up. This is  after failed attempts to stop the  underwater leak after the April 20  underwater explosion of the Deepwater  Horizon rig. The cap was put into place to  attempt to only lessen the oil flow and not  to stop it yet. The plan that is in place from  BP to stop the leak is still a few months  away.
