Whether we are religious or spiritual “Our perception of the world around us is affected by who we are” according to Adler & Proctor (2017, Ch. 4-1). These differences define how we interact in the world around us. Someone with a religious perception of the world lives their life to share to love of God and plant seeds to guide others towards believing in what they believe. Whereas, someone with a spiritual perception would live their life only focused on their personal purpose that comes from the world around them. These different perceptions can both hurt or help Christians in their effort to grow God’s Kingdom. As Christians reach out to others to share the love of God and His truth, a spiritual person could interfere with that message. As Adler & Proctor say, “But there’s another kind of perceptual gap that often blocks communication-the gap between people from different backgrounds” (2017, Ch. 4-2c). This could hurt a Christians effort to grow His Kingdom.
