The eccentric load will then cause normal stresses due to both the axial load, P , and the bending moment M . EAS 209-Fall 2010 Instructors: Christine Human loaded columns. The allowable stress on the material is determined using code equations from last lecture The main difference is in the determination of the normal stresses due to the applied loading.
