A Guide to Biology Biology 10 Lab Manual available in the “Syllabus” section of the bookstore Grading: Your grade in this class will be based on your total number of points as compared to the total number of points available from the entire semester. Here is an approximate break down of the points: Each Total 3 Lecture exams 100 points 300 points 2 Lab exams 100pts 200 points Biology in the Community 15 pts 15 points Quizzes 10-20 points 30-60 points PrepU/Reading assignments 50 points Lab Report 50 50 points Lab participation 2 points 15-20 points Ecology & Final Exam 200points 200points Total ~860-905 I will grade on a straight scale: A> 90%; B 80-89%; C 70-79%, D 60-69%. Anyone who misses the final will receive an “F” in the course regardless of their previous grade (SRJC policy). Reading Assignments : You are required to complete the reading assignments prior to attending class. This applies to both the lecture reading assignments and the lab reading assignments. You will need to pre-fill out portions of your lab manual worth 2 pts for each week. PrepU This is a series of online quizzes on your reading. They are open book, open notes You will need to complete them prior to that day’s attendance. They are worth a total of 50 pts : 1/3 of those points will be based how many of the assignments you completed. . 33% of those points will based on how many you completed on time. 33% of those points will be based on your performance on the assignments. Inside your textbook you will have an Access Card for PrepU. Scratch off to reveal the code. Go to www.prep-u.com . Click on the button beneath “ Have an Access Card?” ( you can buy access separately if you have a used book). You will need to click on “ Join a Class”.
