Midterm 3 Outline Review Outline for Exam 3 Chapter 10 -- glycolysis structures on handhout--ring structures or linear whichever you prefer to learn--but you will need to know about alpha/beta for the anomeric carbon of ring structure what is a glycosidic bond--how is it formed; major types of polysaccharides: amylose; amylopectin; glycogen; cellulose--what are the linkages Know the names and enzymes and the number of carbon atoms involved in glycolysis (which steps are 6 carbon and which are 3 carbon)--see the glycolysis song if that makes it easier to learn Which steps use coenzymes or consume/produce ATP; recognize structures of any cofactor and the part of the cofactor that functions in the reaction What is the overall yield of ATP from glycolytic breakdown of glucose--which steps consume ATP and which steps generate ATP? What are the metabolic fates of pyruvate Which steps are regulated, by what; how does that relate to other pathways (eg, citric acid cycle)
