Credit card debt is having its snowball effect in campuses as well. Most of the students handle it well, but quite a few tend to get into the debt. This is primarily because many students are not well trained about the consequences of not paying the debt on time and that credit card companies target the college students aggressively. They have no regard as to the consequences of high debt for these customers. The ethical conflict of the sale of easy credit to college students too often results in hazardous outcomes. The idea to attract college students to sign up for a credit card with a gimmick, a free item, or the promise of a huge credit limit is a bad idea and should not be permitted. This is because; college students have their parents to bail them out if the situation arises of paying-off the credit card bill. Secondly, Students have a long life ahead of them, which would mean interest incomes for several years. For a college student, at an age of 18 or more, credit facility is totally a legal activity. Credit card companies can be found stationed at colleges and universities all around the United States. Although many institutions have started to restrict campus access, the credit card companies have devised other creative means to target the college students. As a result, several media articles are seen where credit card companies are marketing their cards to college students, who are willing to give up their futures for a free pizza coupon or a free t-shirt, etc (al, 1994).
