Unformatted text preview: Griggs vs. Duke Power Company Discuss the background of the case and the legal implications of the decision. Analyze the biases related to the assessments of the case. Analyze the ethical implications for diverse populations in the relationship to the case. Prior to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Duke Power Company segregated its employees by race.  After the Civil Rights act, Duke Power Company required high school diplomas or a minimum score on an IQ test for position other than Labor positions.  The Griggs vs. Duke Power Company case went before the United States Supreme Court on December 14, 1970.  On March 8, 1971 the United States Supreme Court ruled against Duke Power Company's employee selecting procedure. In 1955, the Duke Power Company instituted a requirement for all employees to have a high school education for employment in any department except their labor department....
