MIAMI UNIVERSITY KNH 188 Study Guide Final Exam Fall 2009 The Final exam will be multiple choice, T/F and Some Fill-in/short answer. It is not comprehensive, HOWEVER, previous material will be tested as identified below. The most recent material covered ( bold ) as addressed in Ch. 6 & 7 and the last two chapters of the Primer (2 nd ed) and the text will be emphasized. 1. Reasonable estimates of VO 2 max for males and females of “college age”. 2. Estimating caloric expenditure from relative VO 2 and bodyweight data. 3. Use MET values to obtain VO 2 and calorie requirements for individuals of a specified weight. 4. The ACSM’s general requirements for exercise prescription (FITT components). 5. Calculation of an exercise intensity using the max heart rate and heart rate reserve method. 6. Determine the MET level or the percent of some ones capacity if the oxygen cost of an activity is given and the individual’s fitness status is known (e.g. average female, elite male etc.).
