Orbit – the path that a planet follows around the Sun (or any other celestial body). Planetary orbits are most commonly in the shape of ellipses, but can be circular, and usually involve a focus point that they orbit around. Planetary orbits are also seen to “sweep out equal areas in equal times”. When a planet is farther from its focus point, it tends to move slower than when it is located near its focus point. The above point can be represented through Kepler’s equation of planetary motion which states that: (how long the orbit takes) ^2 = (how big the orbit is) ^3. Newton’s law of gravity is given by: Force = ((Gravitational constant)*(mass of object 1)*(mass of object 2))/ (the distance between the two objects) ^2. The force of gravity is always attractive and is also the weakest natural force that scientists have discovered in the universe.
