What is the difference between parallel (concentric) and similar folds? 7. What is a dip isogon? How are they related to changes in layer thickness around a fold? 8. What class are parallel and similar folds? Fold Systems 9. Define the following terms: enveloping surface, anticlinorim/synclinorium, parasitic fold. 10. What is the difference between symmetric and asymmetric folds? 11. How is vergence defined? What is the vergence of the fold in 10.15a? Now hold it up to the light and look at it from the back side on the next page. What is the vergence from that point of view? Is vergence unique?
