Summary on Emotions in 'The Story of an Hour'" In the essay “Emotions in the Story of An Hour,” the author, Selina Jamil, introduces her essay by giving a summary of Kate Chopin’s short story “The story of an Hour.” She goes on to mention the historical period in which the story took place and analyzes the events mainly through Mrs. Mallard’s characters. The author explains the unexpected feelings shown by Mrs. Mallards towards her husband’s death news. She Described Chopin’s story as a nineteenth Century American Woman’s dramatic moment of awakening into selfhood which offers her the ability to live her last living moments with an acute consciousness ” (pg.215). Jamil tries to explain to the readers that Louise's reaction was because of the suffering she has endured from an unhappy marriage. Her thesis in the essay persuades the reader that Louis's reaction resulted from the awakened emotions and not because of her husband’s deaths. In the story, Coppin describes that
