There are many challenges for a writer, specifically a writer of scholarly articles and essays. Three specific challenges that may arise for essay writers include: lack of references or scholarly resources, imminent deadlines (compounded by a heavy workload!), and lack of knowledge of formatting standards such as APA or MLA. The first challenge would be utilizing as many references as possible to gather information. If you are prepared by having read sufficient resources, then compiling the information within those references is easy. If there is a limited number of resources, one is slightly limited on how much can be analyzed and responses will be brief. The more information available, the easier it will likely be to form an educated opinion on any given subject. Scholarly essays, in particular, often require specific journals or peer-reviewed articles to be used. These articles can be difficult to research online.
