Amy has been complaining about being tired all the time and she doesn’t really eat regular because her mom only makes a small amount of money. I have come up with her disorder and she has Iron deficiency anemia. This is where you don’t get enough iron in your blood. Her body is failing to get the iron needed in order to carry enough oxygen and hemoglobin’s to her blood stream. Therefore it causes fatigue, dizziness, and headaches, lack of excercise, rapid heartbeat, and shortness of breath. The mother can get her daughter an iron supplement to raise her iron levels. The mother should also start buying more iron fortified foods as well. These are products like beans, fish, cheese, peanut butter, spinach, and many more. So if Amy would start taking her iron supplements and start eating more iron fortified foods she should get back to normal pretty quickly. Marcus is going in for his physical for kindergarten and his mother tells the physician that he has the sickle cell trait. They will have to screen him to find out if he carries the sickle cell trait as well. In order to diagnose this they have to look at the red blood cells and figure out if they
