Wednesday 11 is Veterans Day, a campus holiday. Enjoy a welldeserved rest. The three most fundamental concepts in this course are (i) Limits; (ii) Derivatives; (iii) Integrals. Today we begin our study of integrals. In todays lecture, the word integral will not be mentioned. Instead, we will discuss (and define) the related concept of area. Well get to integrals next Monday. Please temporarily forget everything you have learned about integrals, so that we can clarify exactly what an integral is, and how it is defined.
