Final Project 2 Pollution mitigation plan for Arizona Pollution can take many forms. The air we breathe, the water we drink, the ground where we grow our food, and even the increasing noise we hear every day; all contribute to health problems and a lower quality of life. At one time, Arizona was internationally known as a respite for those suffering respiratory difficulties. Not anymore, Arizona is continuing to climb the hill to the top for most polluted Cities in the United States. Since the early 1990s, residents of the Valley of the Sun have been looking for some relief of their own. The "Brown Cloud", as it has come to be known. Something has to give, residents of Phoenix, Arizona need to start to rethink our ways of life. Start to open your eyes and step back to see how deadly o0nes carbon footprint is to our environment. Phoenix Arizona is home of 1,601,587 people, carrying 95 zip codes valley wide. Males: 814,417 (50.9%) Females: 787,170 (49.1 %) Phoenix, Arizona is the 12th largest metro area by population in the United States with more than 4.3 million people. In addition, Phoenix is the county seat of Maricopa County, and is one of the largest cities in the United States by land area. Thus the reason why you could imagine why the increasing levels of harmful pollution we know as our breathing air. The weather in Phoenix can range anywhere from 120 degrees in the summer to 46

According to the city of Phoenix community data the percentage of residents living in poverty in 2009 were 8.9%, for White Non-Hispanic residents 8.9%, for Black residents 26.8%, for Hispanic or Latino residents 28.8%, for American Indian residents 28.5%, for other race residents 23.5%, and for two or more race residents 15.5%.” There are 80 hospitals in Arizona, 20 of which are located in rural areas.
