Chapman The Unfinished Nation Part II, episodes 43-44: These episodes were about the lat 1940s, the war was over and the people had something to look forward to. Unfortunately at this same time Russia decided that they needed an Atom Bomb, this was the start of the cold war. After the Soviet Union tested their first bomb the U.S. realized that from that point on they had just engaged in an arms war, a race to be the most technologically advanced. While all the fuss about a third world war was happening North Korea thought it was a good idea to invade South Korea, and unite the land into one communist country. The Soviet Union apparently knew of the pending attack yet they did nothing to stop the north Koreans, the only reason they did not stop them was because they did not think the U.S. was going to either. The Soviets were wrong, the U.S. sent thousands of troops to go in and put down the North Koreans to rid the country of communism.
