Chapman 1 3 . Discuss the culture of the Plains Indians and the reasons for Indian conflict with white America . Why was violence so common? Was a peaceful resolution possible? Why or why not? The Plains Indians had evolved in comparison to the earlier generations of Indians in America . By the 1730s, not long after the Spanish had been trading with them, the Plains Indians had integrated horses into their nomadic culture (Pekka) . The Indians depended on the American Buffalo (Bison) and as the buffalo migrated so did the Indians . This was an ongoing and quite expansive journey for the tribes . The white people where greedy, they took land that did not belong to them but what successful country hasn’t stolen something from a weaker people . As the colonies began to fill up and the indentured servants completed their requirements, expansion was necessary . People began to move westward right into the middle of Bison’s and the Plains Indian’s stomping grounds . More and more settlers claimed land throughout the Midwest
