Chapman The Unfinished Nation Part 1, episodes 19-20: Watching these episodes just confirms my opinion about the greed in Americans. From 1849 on California underwent drastic change in culture. Americans went there to seek out fortune, the Mexicans that lived there were striped of their power, prestige and land. I feel as though there are no boundaries to the greed in America. Time and time again we prove to ourselves that we are never content with what we have. From the Natives, to other countries borders and property we robbed millions of people of their way of life for our personal gain. In Texas during the mid 1800s American settlers were allowed to establish communities within the Mexico. This was a mistake made by the Mexican government. They thought if they gave the Americans the land and the opportunity to settle that they would be satisfied and that they would become citizens of Mexico. The Mexican government could not have been more wrong. What they did not understand was that if
