Chapman The Unfinished Nation Part 1, episodes 15-16: There is one thing in particular that really stood out tome when I watched these episodes. The Native Americans got screwed. How could we just pretend that they are not humans. They had no rights and for a while there the people of the U.S. were instructed to shoot them on site. This kind of injustice surprises me when I watch the videos, I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the greediness of the U.S. for land. Another thing that I realized while watching these episodes was that politicians like Jackson, and Tyler used boldfaced lies in their campaigns. One of Jackson’s lies was that he loved the Natives, and he was their friend. In reality he placed the “shoot on site” order, he fought them, and he forced them west of the Mississippi. To this day the Cherokee Indians tell stories of the evil that Jackson did. They tell stories of how he was the Devil, how he ripped their land away from them and promised them the land of their
