Locally, over the years, the Y has been expanded by leaps and bounds here in Idaho. Through many different youth and child development programs the Y reaches 1 out of every 2 children in Ada county. These programs are founded by donors through the YMCA Heritage Club. This allows for everyone to contribute to the betterment of our youth. As of late the Y has put on the 2010 Strong Kids Campaign. This campaign helps build kids self esteem and conflict resolution skills, provides positive role models, and does wonders for the absenteeism at our local schools. The Y offers teen leader positions for teens in the community. These type of leadership positions, such as, swim coach, could not have otherwise been offered to the teens if it were not for the generous donations of those in our community. It costs five dollars a month to put one teen in charge of ten young swimmers. This program works well because the younger generation is being thought by the young generation which helps to bridge the gap between adults and kids. The younger kids respect the teen leaders
