Microsoft Office Word Introduction Short History 1|One Microsoft Word is Microsoft's flagship word processing software. The first versions of Word came out under DOS and provided both graphics-based and text-based interfaces for working with a document. The first version of Word for Windows was released in 1989 at a price of 500 US dollars . It was first released in 1983 under the name Multi- Tool Word for Xenix systems. Versions were later written for several other platforms including IBM PCs running DOS (1983), the Apple Macintosh (1984), SCO UNIX , OS/2 and Microsoft Windows (1989). It is a component of the Microsoft Office system; however, it is also sold as a standalone product and included in Microsoft Works Suite. Beginning with the 2003 version, the branding was revised to emphasize Word's identity as a component within the Office suite: Microsoft began calling it Microsoft Office Word instead of merely Microsoft Word. The latest release is Word 2007. About Word 2|Two Microsoft Word (Ms Word) is a word processing program. A word processor is a program that enables us to perform word processing functions. Microsoft Office Word Basic Features Introduction 1|One The words basic features include open, edit, save and print. We can create a new word document and then save them in a format which suits us. We can then open the saved document any other time and edit them. After finishing the editing we can then output our document in hard copy format by printing. The other features include opening recent document, encrypting file send our document as email and many more.
