The Agency has recently become aware of Chemical Z in drinking water from data collected under the state program to monitor public wells. They ask you for help in determining potential risk from exposure to this chemical in drinking water. You look on the National Toxicology Program website and discover that Chemical Z has recently been tested and NTP determined it was clearly carcinogenic in male and female mice. Chemical Z was also mutagenic in a number of mutagenicity assays in bacteria. You use the BMDS software in order to derive a cancer slope factor for Chemical Z.
