It combines a bus and a star, the bus backbone interconnect more or two hubs creating a star bus topology. If hubs fail to a connected computer it will not affect or stop communication to the other computers. A hub regenerate signals, because of multiport repeaters they require sharing cable bandwidth with all connected stations. An advantage is if single computers fail the other computer remains connected or intact.
