Coms 332 9/28/09 Rhetorical Criticism Thesis/Research Question Assignment 1. “Does Tupac Shakur use an ideology of ‘Black Power’ in his song Changes ?” For this particular research question I think that it would be better phrased as a how question rather than a yes or no question because that is one of the common mistakes that is mentioned in our text. The “how” part of the question allows for the discussion of different ideas throughout the paper. By phrasing this question, “How does Tupac Shakur use an ideology of ‘Black Power’ in his song Changes ?”, you would be able to better investigate the specific ways Tupac uses an ideology of “Black Power” in his song in your paper. 2. “How do metaphors function in political speeches?” This research question is way too broad, which is another problem discussed in our text. There could be many ways that metaphors function in political speeches that you could write forever on the topic. This is a problem because if the topic is too broad then it will be hard to narrow your research paper. The research
