Kine 280 Hall Oct. 20, 2010 Fire Safety Prevention Install a smoke alarm on every floor of your home Check batteries once a month and change batteries twice a year Keep fire extinguishers in your house Keep space heaters away from flammable objects Keep water temperature at 120 F to prevent scalding Cook on back burners and always turn pot handles toward the back of the stove Keep hot liquids out of children’s reach Keep matches away from children Test the temperature of children’s food before serving it Plan a fire escape route with at least two exits Practice the fire escape route Teach children how to stop, drop, and roll Have a meeting place in case of fire Post emergency phone numbers by the phone If smoke is present crawl low to escape Touch door handles before entering a room if there is a fire Routinely check your electrical appliances and wiring. Frayed wires can cause fires. Replace all worn, old or damaged appliance
