New Providence High School Grade 10 S UMMER R EADING : A MERICAN L ITERATURE Dear Student, Summer is the perfect time for reading. To encourage you to read thoughtfully, we are asking you to complete writing activities while you are reading. These will be submitted in the fall and will take the place of testing. Return these sheets to your Language Arts teacher during the first week of school for credit towards the first marking period. There are forms attached to your summer reading list for the Book 1 and Book 2 selections. They are for activities that you will be doing as you read this summer. The selections on the list include fiction (novels) and nonfiction. Use the novel form for fiction and the nonfiction form for those titles that are nonfiction. If you select a biography, use the biography/autobiography form. This year there is an addendum of suggested books, which you may use in place of the Book 3 selection. These include fiction and nonfiction. You will not use the forms for this selection. Instead, you will write your assessment of the book and a recommendation as to why other students should read it or not read it . This should be 200-250 words. Examine the forms carefully before you start reading your selections. These questions will help to guide you as you read. Prepare one report for each book. Complete the bibliography sheet, which must be signed by a parent, and attach it to your reports.

What students are saying

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
