2Summarize the assumptions of attachment theory in 2 to 3 sentences.According to (Foley et al., 2009), “Attachment was first defined by John Bowlby, who based his research on the effects of separation between infants and their parents.” Bowlby theorized that an infant would display or engage in certain behaviors to avoid being separated from his or her parent or when attempting to reconnect with a parent who has been physically absent. Behaviors include but are not limited to excessive screaming, extreme crying, and clinging. Based on Bowlby’s study he believed these behaviors are reinforced by nature and can enhance the infant’s chances of survival.
