The Issue: Should the U.S. continue to use capital punishment? My Position: The death penalty should be abolished. I believe that we should put an end to the death penalty. My main reason for wanting to see an end to the death penalty is the margin of error. In doing my research for this assignment I found that since the 1970’s over 100 prisoners that received death sentences, were later found innocent and were exonerated. That number may seem small next to the approximately 3,300 death sentences given since 1976. However, those hundred or so prisoners are only the ones that were
