Think back to a situation in your life where you took a position on an issue. State the issue, the position you took, and what considerations were relevant to the issue that helped you determine your position. It was hard to me to decide to write about the position I took a stand on, since it is somewhat controversial and I hope not to offend you, the teacher. However, this is the best example that I can think of. When I was in school we had a lot of senior homeroom meetings, where the entire senior class would meet in the auditorium to plan the graduation, prom, etc. We of course, always had to do the pledge of allegiance, which I had always disliked doing. Well, one day I had fallen asleep and didn’t stand up for the pledge. The teacher made a point of calling me out in front of the entire class and making a big deal of what she called “my lack of respect” for my country. I was very offended by the teacher’s calling me out in class, and decided I was no going to stand up for the pledge any longer. The next day, I did not stand
