Using Axia’s Educational Resources University of Phoenix’s Axia Online College offers many useful online educational resources. These resources aid us students in our classes and assignments. Using these resources is a definite pathway to success. The OLS (online learning system) is one of our most important tools. The OLS is basically our classroom, which works like a message board. We post our assignments using threaded discussion. Each thread of conversation builds off one another, making one big conversation with many different topics. The OLS contains many tools for students. There is a spell check feature, formatting tools, and the ability to attach files. Attaching files is the general way of submitting our assignments. The OLS also contains our course syllabus and course materials. These are essential and the syllabus should be followed exactly. Axia also has its own online library. The library is a huge collection of approved articles that we can use for our research. We can search several databases (EBSCOhost, Gale PowerSearch, and ProQuest) and have the option of searching peer-reviewed articles. The library also contains useful tools like encyclopedias, dictionaries, and test guides. Another useful feature here at Axia is the CWE. CWE stands for Center for Writing Excellence. The CWE holds a number of invaluable tools for our college success. The 2

two most notable tools in the CWE are WritePoint tool, Plagiarism Checker. The WritePoint tool allows us to submit our papers to check for errors in grammar, spelling and writing mechanics. The WritePoint tool makes suggestions to correct our errors. WritePoint is useful that this tool only makes suggestions, and does not automatically reformat our papers. This allows us to review our mistakes, and learn how to avoid them. The WritePoint tool is also not always 100% accurate, and can sometimes say a mistake exists where one does not, but for the most part it is an exceptional tool. The Plagiarism Checker is another excellent tool provided by the CWE. The Plagiarism Checker allows us students to submit our work and papers to be checked for any potential Plagiarism. This tool compares our papers to thousands of articles and student papers. The lower the score the less plagiarism exists in a paper. If a paper ever comes back with a high percentage of plagiarism, it would be wise to rewrite or revise one’s work.
