Cjs/250 Pinkerton From Barrel maker to Justice Officer 2 There was a man that led a life that most would only dream of. This man started off as a barrel maker in his families company. Then when out looking for wood he comes across a band of criminals. He then helped the local authorities to capture these criminals. With this he knew that there was a greater calling than just barrel making. He then worked as a policeman in Chicago, worked for the President, created the secret service, was a spy, and a normal detective. This man was known as Allen Pinkerton. Pinkerton was on the Chicago Police Department, even though it was not a police department at all, it was just less than twelve men trying to protect about 30,000 or more people. However Pinkerton knew this police department was where he needed to be. When he went out on his beat (on the street) he would not take any problems from anyone. Criminals would try and harass him and he would just hit them with a club than to deal with them while they were
