The police officer field is a highly competitive field. With this competition comes a tough recruitment process along with an even tougher selection process. When selected you are still not guaranteed a job or career. You still must be able to pass the training process which is only rivaled by the military’s boot camp. This is a very physical and mentally challenging training. “Only one person out of a hundred people passes these standards”, is according to the Department of Justice Statistics. In the next few paragraphs I will explain the recruitment process, selection process, and the training process. According to Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, police department’s recruitment process is based on these five steps. 1. Individuals assigned to recruitment activities for a law enforcement agency should be knowledgeable in personnel matters, especially equal opportunity employment regulations and affirmative action regulations that affect the management and operations of the agency. 2. The law enforcement agency should seek recruitment assistance, referrals, and advice from community organizations and leaders. 3.
