History 135 Big Events from The 50’s to Now 2 In this paper I am going to explain one event from the 1950’s, 1960’s, 1970’s, 1980’s.and the 1990’s. The events that I am choosing are the ones that have guided our nation to where it is now. No matter if it is bad or good, I will give you the cold hard facts. In addition, I will also give my personal hypothesizes on what I anticipate to happen in the U.S. economical climate of the next ten years. I will do this with my current experience and knowledge that I have learned through this class and from outside sources. First I will start with a major event in the 1950’s. 1950 President Truman decides to intervene. Truman decided to send troops to Korea to help police that nation and prevent it from falling to communism. September 1950 MacArthur’s troops landed at Inchon and started pushing the Korean troops into a corner helping turn the tides of the war. However, later after the United Stated decide to pull the troops out of Korea; it ends up falling to communist rule anyway. This also was the start of trying to free the world of communism. It was not until later that Truman realized that he could not take in the entire communist world by him self. Next the 1960’s also known as the roaring sixties. In the 1960’s a major event happened all over the world. A baby boom happened that was almost completely unexplainable. Most of the American middle class lived in suburbs by now and where focusing more on having children instead of saving money. This also led to an increase in what people bought. For instance, instead of saving money for incase something happened they would use the money to go out and shop for televisions, radios, or fast food. This was a time when people did not mind to commute to and from work. The house they bought where being massed produced and assembled on the spot. In addition, these houses many did not have a safety code to follow like now and did not even have insulation.

Even though all of the economy started to boom, the cities started to decline because less people with money lived their. This opened up homes for migrant workers and African Americans to move in and take over the jobs that where their. However, when they took the jobs they did so at a lesser pay rate than the average Caucasian whom had previously had the job. This pay rate change lead to an even larger
